School at Millcreek Canyon

Wouldn't it be fun to have school here every day? I needed a change in our routine and the peacefulness of being in the Canyon rather than the city. I love this picture of my children!

Trying to get all 5 kids to cooperate for a picture together was difficult--and you HAVE to get pictures with the fun fall colors! Getting them to pose alone. . .no problemo!

Not a bad shot. . .

I guess I should have realized that I might have problems keeping them out of the creek. Arrrggg. . .

I love this picture of Gehrig & Liam!

I made a great discovery--my boys are big enough to help pack Liam! Yippee!!

Going on a lion hunt! Actually, they must have thought it was something like that b/c once we got off the gravel path, they weren't too willing to adventure into the wilderness (we didn't have our guns! :))! So. . .we went on a short little hike.

Proof that I was there with them. . .

Liam got a short little nap on my back.

More posed pictures--Damian really likes to arrange the poses.

Emma

Isaiah

One of their favorite things of the day was painting! They got so creative. I especially enjoyed Damian's painted leaf. So pretty! We also did leaf rubbings with crayons.

Liam expresses MY feelings at different points of the day (mostly before our outing and on the way home--I guess it can't be all fun and games, even though I try!).

The last part of our day the kids had a BLAST jumping in a large leaf pile (well, everybody loved it but Liam).

We had lunch, devotional, language arts (in the car), literature (I read a short story and a couple of fun poems to them as they created their artwork), journal writing, etc. I'm so glad that we took this day and enjoyed the beauties of nature and a little slower pace.

Random Happenings

I got an annual family zoo pass for joining a credit union a couple of months ago. We were finally able to use the pass and even got Lou to go with us. We went on an overcast day this October towards the end of the day. It was perfect! The animals were more active than I've ever seen them. We only ran into about 5 different families the whole time we were there! I love the tiger in the background!

PUMPKIN WALK at the BENSON GRIST MILL

The kids performed some Halloween songs with a few fellow K12 classmates. We had another great outing together with everybody behaving quite well! It was fun for them to see all the displays, do free crafts, look at the booths, collect candy from the candy cannon, etc.

Emma loving up her little brother!

MAGICAL SCIENTIST Show at the Magna Library
Lou joined us for this event last Monday for FHE. The kids had a great time. Gehrig and Damian were each able to help with part of the show.

Liam's first solid foods. . .we just tried this last night (October 22nd--5 months old). Gehrig got it on video. The kids all had to be there for it! You can tell how much they love their little brother! And how much he didn't love the experience! I think he's going to be my hardest to teach. He's not happy about it at all, but he seemed to need it. . .ugghh. . .now it gets complicated! :)

Liam sleeps in Emma's room now. At first, she would bring him in to me at night (getting him up with the slightest bit of noise). I had to convince her that I would hear him so that she didn't get him up unnecessarily. She's such a good little Mamma. Anyway. . .he usually wakes up for the day around 7. I often find her reading to him and keeping him happy until I'm ready to face the day! I love how he's holding onto her.

Damian cleverly built the conference center during General Conference. Can you see the organist off to the side? We LOVED Conference! My family always looks forward to conference weekend. I got more out of it this time than ever before with children!

Goodby Uncle Mason--See You in 2 Years!

Mason is setting an excellent example for all of his nephews and nieces by serving a 2 year mission to El Salvador, San Salvador. I wanted a picture of him with my little family to compare with when he gets back. They will have changed so much, I'm sure.

Gehrig and then Damian will be the next missionaries in the King family! They sure look up to their Uncle Mason! Don't they look like great prospective missionaries? They dressed up to join the adults for Mason's setting apart. What a neat experience for them!

Mason and his sisters.

We had to get a little silly.

Mason and Liam. He'll probably change the most in our little family.

We're wondering how much taller Gehrig will be when Mason gets back?

Emma & Isaiah

Hugging my baby brother goodby for bit! I sure love the guy!

Katie's final hug for two years.

I LOVE these two picture of Quincy with Mason. You can tell how much he adores his uncle.

Quincy seemed to sense the length of time Mason will be gone and just fell to pieces. It was so darn cute, and TENDER!

Alex expresses it for everybody! What a great shot!

See ya soon, Uncle Mason!

Rigby Lake

We enjoyed another trip to Idaho for Mason's farewell, so we took advantage of the time and went to Rigby Lake again. What a fun time!

Isaiah braved the cold water with Mimi and lived to show us how triumphant he was!

I just love these pictures with my fun mom, the kids' MIMI!! That's Emma with her.
