What a STORM!
We were so sad to lose Sister Davidson's beautiful tree in a huge wind storm last Sunday. It provided hours of climbing fun, great shade & privacy between our homes. We found that it had a bunch of cocoons (insects of some sort) in the middle which must have weakened it, so it couldn't be saved.
I heard something after we discovered the tree and saw a panel of siding on our fence that had come from off our house. Lou went out and pounded it back in while the wind was still trying to rip it off! Man, I felt like the little pig with the house made of sticks! We were about to be blown down by the big bad wolf!
It took about 15 people around 4 hours to chop the tree down and load up the first trailer full of branches.

It was quite the adventure for the kids. Isaiah had fun looking on from the swing and then trying to help pull it down with Emma--and even sawing a small branch of his own! Gehrig spent his last few moments in the tree before it was cut down. So sad. He and Damian have had so much fun in that tree. We'll all miss it a lot!

That really IS sad! What a bummer.
Wow! That is so sad. Losing the shade would be the most tragic thing!
Sad to lose a favorite tree! Did you get the house fixed up?
